It Starts With Summer Institute
The Delta Youth Council is formed exclusively through the VPH Summer Institute. Twelve students are selected each year to complete the four-week program — and graduates automatically transition into Council seats for the upcoming school year.
June 6 – July 3
Four weeks of immersive leadership training, public health curriculum, mentorship, and travel — including a regional youth summit in Mississippi.

Curriculum, fieldwork, mentorship, and travel.

Become a Founding Council Member
Year-round role for the next school year.
What Council Members Do
Council members are not figureheads. They are decision-makers, mentors, and public voices for youth health.
Be the Voice
Represent youth perspectives in VPH programming, the Training Center, and community partnerships.
Mentor Peers
Support the school-based W.E.L.L. Squad and guide new Public Health Ambassadors.
Co-Design Programs
Work alongside VPH staff to shape curriculum, events, and youth engagement strategy.
Lead Publicly
Speak at events, appear in media, and serve as the face of Village Public Health.
